Since June 2015 Marco Roling will strengthen the team of the Centre of Global Heritage and Development as a project manager with large experience in Heritage and ICT.
Marco Roling has degrees in Computer Science and in Archaeology and applying for a master in Cultural Information Science. After a career in software engineering at different insurance companies, he decided to change his focus towards cultural heritage projects. Today he works mainly for The Corts Foundation as ICT and heritage advisor, on a digitization project at the National Archives of Indonesia on Dutch VOC archives. His work and ambition is focusing on the combination of heritage management and digital techniques. He is involved in the Tulipana project that has the objective to support digitization and online publication of local community heritage of Dutch emigrants to Brazil. He is the initiator of the search to the Dutch cemetery of 1595 in Madagascar (through MR&C), and also the project 'th[INK]back' that tries to digitally improve readability of old manuscripts with ink corrosion.
