The LDE-team of the research project “Preliminary investigation on the application of the Dutch coastal flood risk management approach for the Venice lagoon” is looking for a student currently enrolled in master programme at the TU Delft, Leiden University or Erasmus University Rotterdam who would be interested in developing a master thesis research focusing on analysing and mapping a coastal flood risk to cultural heritage sites and natural protected areas in the Venice lagoon, Italy.
Key requirements:
Admission to a Master programme 2020/2021 at the TU Delft, Leiden University or Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Key responsibilities:
Principal research activities entail quantitative and spatial analysis and visualization of cultural heritage sites and natural protected areas in the Venice lagoon that are currently and might be in the future further exposed to coastal flood risk. Depends on the COVID-19 situation, the master student will also have a possibility to conduct fieldwork across the Venice lagoon (paid expenses). The master student will also support the project team with the development of joint technical report or peer-reviewed paper.
Selection criteria:
• Knowledge and/or experience associated with cultural heritage management and policy in Europe
• Strong skills in ArcGIS/QGIS
• Proficient in English
• Ability to work well independently is highly desired
Terms and conditions:
The unpaid position will be for 8-10 months (depends of the start date; preferably as soon as possible). The successful applicant will have a flexible schedule and will be supervised by Dr. Sandra Fatorić.
