Catherine is a Master's student of Archaeology at Leiden University, currently specializing in Heritage and Museum Studies. She holds Bachelor's degrees in history and Law and has worked as a teacher and as a Human Rights lawyer. She is currently researching about ethnographic collections of indigenous communities in Brazil and on female collectors. Her aim is to understand how indigenous artifacts are exhibited and perceived in European museums and if and how female collectors are acknowledged or not in the same institutions.
Her academic interests include tangible and intangible heritage, looting, provenance research, ethnographic collections, female collectors, education portfolios in museums, and the role of Public History and Public Archaeology in collective memory.
