Rients de Boer works as Education Officer for the Leiden Centre for Global Heritage and Development. He is responsible for maintaining and organising current Leiden-Delft-Erasmus education on the topic of Heritage.
He has a degree in Accountancy and Controlling from the University of Groningen (2003) and subsequently studied Ancient Near Eastern cultures in Leiden and the Sorbonne in Paris. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Assyriology in Leiden (2014), he worked at the Free University of Amsterdam teaching Ancient History. He has a keen interest in Iraq’s history and the challenges concerning its heritage. Since February 2020 Rients is part of the team at the Centre for Global Heritage reinforcing its network and expanding its educational activities.
