Within our Environment program cities play an important role. The Centre for Global Heritage and Development organized a conference session on ‘Living (World) Heritage Cities' during the 2019 EAA meeting in Bern, to stimulate interdisciplinary discussion, enriching and benefitting both education and research.
Papers presented during the session are currently being collected to draft the volume 'Living (World) Heritage Cities. Insights from Archaeology and History, Geography and Social Sciences, Planning and Design', which will be published peer-reviewed by Leiden University Press in 2021. While working on this volume, it can’t be ignored that in the past months our world has been shaken by new challenges and cities have once more become a crucial lab where to test and find innovative solutions. For this reason, it would be extremely interesting and relevant to add chapters on the new heritage-related challenges faced in Living (World) Heritage Cities in times of a global pandemic.
The Centre for Global Heritage and Development is glad to launch a call for abstracts for the book section on ‘Living (World) Heritage cities in times of a global pandemic’
